Men's Plus Size Wetsuit Styles:
When selecting a Big & Tall plus size suit here are a few things to keep in mind. First, consider the water temperature that you are going to be in, if it is super cold you will want to consider a thicker wetsuit. Each wetsuit has a temperature rating on the product details page. Wetsuits that are 7mm thick are typically rated for 48F and up, 5mm wetsuits are about 52F and up, and 3mm wetsuits are rated about 62F and up. The activity you will be doing is also important. If you are bodyboarding and will be close to shore, a full wetsuit can help protect your legs and elbows from sand scrapes. SCUBA divers will take into consideration the depth of their dives and the temperature because deeper dives make wetsuits compress and that compression impacts your thermal protection.
Your wetsuit should fit nice and snug, the size chart on each product is a great guide to selecting your size. You will see measurements for your chest and waist diameter as well as your height. Putting your wetsuit on can actually be fun! There are a few pro tips that will help you along the way. The best tip we have is to wear a full skin suit under your wetsuit, as skin is like wearing a thin rashguard under your suit. Most skins have thumb loops and foot stirrups so that the fabric stays in place. We have heard time and time again from all wetsuit owners that skins reduce resistance and help the suit glide on. Another tip is to use plastic bags on your hands and feet, this also helps your suit glide on. We have had customers write in and say they use talc powder or a tiny bit of hair conditioner.
